What to expect?
Get your tickets to visit 4 hours by kayak to the Caño Hondo River Forest (mangroves), Rocky Islands, Bird Watching and Caves with the local tour guide.
We get all the types of equipment necessary for your safety (life jackets, etc.), and the action begins by kayak from the Caño Hondo River.
The tour, organized by “Booking Adventures”, begins at the established meeting point with the tour guide. Taking kayaks and crossing mangroves, passing through old pirate caves and protected forests in this picturesque reserve starting from the area of the Caño Hondo Hotels or Sabana de la Mar.
Come with Booking Adventures and start seeing some bird-filled mangroves, rolling hills of lush vegetation and caves of Los Haitises National Park. Take a kayak excursion from the Caño Hondo River, Sabana de la Mar. Through the mangroves and land into the open bay of San Lorenzo, from where you can photograph the rugged forested landscape. Look out into the water to see manatees, crustaceans and dolphins.
The name of the national park comes from its original inhabitants, the Taino Indians. In their language, “Haitises” translates as highlands or hills, a reference to the coast's steep limestone geological formations. Venture further into the park to explore caves such as Cueva de la Arena and Cueva de la Línea. The caves in the reserve were used as a refuge by the Taíno Indians and, later, by pirates to hide. Look for drawings of Indians decorating some of the walls.
In case you like this shorter trip, we have a second option: kayak in Los Haitises 2 hours
The Tour ends at the starting point in Los Haitises National Park. We recommend this trip at 6:00 am in case you want to see manatees, crustaceans and dolphins.
6:00 AM is early, so there are no boats in Los Haitises National Park yet.
