What to expect?

Get your tickets to visit Los Haitises National Park with a wonderful lunch at Caño Hondo and swimming in the natural springs. Take a boat tour through the mangroves, ancient pirate caves and protected forests of this picturesque reserve, from the Caño Hondo hotel area or from Sabana de la Mar.

The tour, organized by “Booking Adventures”, begins at the established meeting point with the tour guide. Come with Booking Adventures and start seeing some bird-filled mangroves, rolling hills of lush vegetation and caves of Los Haitises National Park. Boat excursion from the Caño Hondo river, Sabana de la Mar.

Through the mangroves and land in the open San Lorenzo Bay, from where you can photograph the rugged forest landscape. Look out into the water to see manatees, crustaceans and dolphins.

The name of the national park comes from its original inhabitants, the Taino Indians. In their language, “Haitises” translates to highlands or hills, a reference to the steep limestone geological formations of the coast. Venture further into the park to explore caves such as Sand Cave and Line Cave. The caves in the reserve were used as shelter by the Taíno Indians and, later, by hidden pirates. Look for drawings of Indians decorating some of the walls. After visiting the Los Haitises National Park we will go to Caño Hondo. In Caño Hondo learning about this ecolodge history and lunch time with the typical food of the Sabana de la Mar community.

Lunch will be delicious but we're not done yet. After lunch, we will swim in the natural spring from the Jibales River, a perennial river to the Caño Hondo River. Stay in Caño Hondo until 6:00 pm if you wish or less.

In the Nature Pools you can stay as long as you want to swim and hike. If you are vegan, we can also prepare some food for you.
